North Vancouver trail network closed after bear swipes man
The B.C. Conservation Officer Service is asking people to avoid the Richard Juryn trail network after a black bear followed and injured a lone walker.

A man was injured by a black bear while walking alone on the Richard Juryn Trail in North Vancouver's Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve on Monday morning, the Conservation Officer Service says.
The encounter happened at about 8 a.m. Officers said the bear followed the man for some time despite his attempts to scare it away, then swiped at his leg. Responding officers had not located the animal.
In coordination with Metro Vancouver Parks, the BCCOS is asking the public to avoid the Richard Juryn trail network until further notice. Signs have been posted and the investigation continues.
Bear conflicts can be reported to the RAPP line at 1-877-952-7277.
