Two rescued near B.C. ferry terminal after fishing boat sinks
Two people were taken to hospital in stable condition after a fishing boat sank near the Tsawwassen ferry terminal, prompting rescue efforts and delays on several B.C. Ferries sailings.

Two people were rescued from the water near the Tsawwassen ferry terminal after the fishing vessel they were aboard sank, according to B.C. Ferries. The article description says the incident occurred Saturday afternoon, while the body of the report identifies it as Sunday afternoon.
A B.C. Ferries spokesperson said people were seen in the water near the terminal at about 3:20 p.m. The Spirit of British Columbia and Coastal Renaissance both launched rescue boats to help.
The two people aboard the fishing vessel were safely recovered and taken to the Tsawwassen terminal, B.C. Ferries said. The company thanked those involved for acting quickly and asked customers for understanding about resulting delays.
B.C. Ferries issued a service notice for several delayed sailings between Tsawwassen and Duke Point. The 3:15 p.m. sailing to Duke Point departed 73 minutes late and was expected to arrive at about 6:28 p.m.
The service said the 5:45 p.m. departure from Duke Point, the 8:15 p.m. departure from Tsawwassen and the 10:45 p.m. departure from Duke Point were also expected to be delayed. Passengers were asked to check the current conditions section of the B.C. Ferries website for updates.
B.C. Emergency Health Services and local police attended, B.C. Ferries said. Paramedics treated both people at the terminal before taking them to hospital, where they were reported to be in stable condition.
