One person taken to hospital after being struck by train in Surrey
A man in his 60s was struck by a train while walking on CN tracks near Port Kells in Surrey on Tuesday evening. He suffered a shoulder-blade cut and was hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. CN Police have taken over the investigation.

A man was taken to hospital after being struck by a train in Surrey’s Port Kells area Tuesday night. Shortly before 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 6, Surrey Police Service received a report from BC Emergency Health Services that someone had been struck on the CN tracks near the 18200-block of Golden Ears Connector. First responders and SPS officers found a man in his 60s near the tracks, conscious, breathing and able to talk, SPS said in an email.
The man had a cut to his shoulder blade. He told police he had been walking on the tracks and did not see or hear the train. He said the train “clipped” him despite his attempt to avoid it, according to the SPS email. Based on the information available at the time, the incident did not appear to be intentional, police said. He was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
CN Police have taken over the investigation, and the circumstances remain under investigation. Peace Arch News said it had contacted CN Rail for comment.
