Voting closes in Port Moody’s 2026 general local election as preliminary results are posted
The initial count of all ballots, including mail ballots, is underway. Preliminary results will be posted online as they become available, with complete preliminary results expected after the count is finished and official results due by 4 p.m. on Oct. 21.
Voting has closed in the 2026 Port Moody General Local Election, and the initial count of all ballots, including mail ballots, is underway. The Chief Election Officer is posting preliminary results online at portmoody.ca/vote as they become available. Results will also appear on a screen in the Parkview Room on the second floor of City Hall, at 100 Newport Drive. If the initial count is completed before midnight on Oct. 17, the room will remain open so complete preliminary results can be posted.
The City asks voters to be patient while the count is completed. It will post an update at portmoody.ca/news when complete preliminary results are available. The Chief Election Officer must declare official results by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21; the official results will be available at portmoody.ca/vote.
The election is choosing one mayor, six councillors and two school trustees for four-year terms. Eligible voters could cast ballots by mail, during advance voting on Oct. 7 and 10, or on general voting day, Oct. 17. General local elections are municipal elections. Information about the B.C. Provincial Election, scheduled for Oct. 24, 2026, is available at elections.bc.ca.
