Janet Brown is running for Surrey council on seniors’ services and accessibility
The Surrey First candidate says her priorities include improving services and accessibility for seniors, strengthening ties with frontline social service agencies, and advocating for families and disadvantaged people.

Janet Brown is running for Surrey city council with Surrey First. An award-winning journalist, she is director of communications with Surrey Urban Mission. She says she is focused on affordable, compassionate solutions and will prioritize seniors, families and affordability.
Her three priorities are improving services and accessibility for seniors, strengthening partnerships with frontline social service agencies, and advocating for families, seniors and people who are disadvantaged. Expanding on seniors’ services, Brown said that after 40 years as a journalist, she is not afraid to speak up for what is right or speak out against what is wrong. She described herself as a common-sense community advocate with a strong work ethic and tenacity.
Brown said she will also work with non-profits and other agencies to bridge the gap between vulnerable people and resources, helping people get off the streets and connect with the assistance they need. She said helping people is her passion, that she has advocated for Surrey residents for years and gets results, and that she does not stop until there is a positive outcome.
