Candidates announced for the 2026 Richmond Election

A total of 90 candidates are seeking office in the 2026 Richmond Election: seven for mayor, 55 for councillor and 28 for school trustee. On Saturday, Oct. 17, voters will elect one mayor, eight councillors and seven school trustees. The ballot will be double-sided, and voters are reminded to complete both sides before submitting it.

Candidates were invited to submit profiles containing a photo, a 150-word statement and contact information. Profiles are available at richmond.ca/elections, in the 2026 Richmond Election app and in the printed Voter’s Guide, which will be sent to all Richmond households starting in the last week of September. The guide also includes voting information and will be available at Richmond City Hall, community centres and libraries. Online versions will be offered in English, French, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Punjabi.

Community organizations may organize all-candidates meetings, giving voters an opportunity to address candidates. Organizations interested in holding a meeting can contact candidates directly. They may ask the Richmond Elections Office to list the meeting online by calling 604-276-4100 or emailing elections@richmond.ca with its date, time, location, participating candidates and organizer information.

Eligible voters may vote in advance from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Oct. 3, 7, 8, 9 and 10. They may also vote at their designated voting place from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17. Designated voting places can be found through the election app, richmond.ca/elections or a voter card. Mail ballots may be requested online until Friday, Oct. 9 at 3:00 p.m., or by calling the Mail Ballot Call Centre at 604-276-4100 until Thursday, Oct. 15 at 3:00 p.m.
