Richmond RCMP video showcases fleet for responses on land, in the air and on the water
Richmond RCMP has released a video featuring the specialized vehicles and aircraft officers use across the city, from golf carts at crowded community events to all-terrain vehicles, a twin-engine boat and a shared helicopter resource.

Richmond’s mix of urban centres, agricultural land, parks and waterways means officers work in varied environments. Richmond RCMP has released a video showing residents some of the resources used to keep the community safe. Staff Sgt. Paula Maan said the city’s geography calls for a diverse policing response, whether officers are on roads, waterways and trails or in the air.
The video features marked police vehicles, motorcycles, bicycle patrols, all-terrain vehicles, a marine vessel and RCMP Air Services. Together, these resources help officers respond to emergencies, patrol public spaces, conduct searches, support major events and maintain a visible presence throughout the city. Richmond is an island municipality with an extensive shoreline and critical transportation infrastructure, which presents distinct policing challenges. The fleet helps equip officers to serve wherever they are needed.
The video explains how different vehicles fit different tasks. A golf cart is not suited to a high-speed pursuit, but can move through large crowds and tight spaces at busy community events. Police cars and motorcycles, equipped with lights and sirens, help officers respond quickly to calls for service. When roads end, all-terrain vehicles can handle difficult terrain. Bicycle patrols can cover parks and city streets, including places standard vehicles cannot easily reach.
The narration says Richmond’s island geography means police need to be as effective on the water as on land; a twin-engine boat supports that work. For an aerial view, officers call on Air Support. The helicopter is a shared resource that assists RCMP detachments and partner agencies across British Columbia with search and rescue and tactical operations. The video closes with the message that Richmond RCMP is ready to help from the streets to the sky and everywhere in between.
