The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) said Thursday that Loblaw Companies Limited has recalled its President’s Choice cookies because of extraneous material. The product, sold at Loblaw locations, is President’s Choice English-Style Gingersnap Cookies and may contain metal wire.

The affected lot is sold in a 350-gram box with UPC 0 60383 76819 5. Its best-before dates are 2027 FE 08 and 2027 MR 14. The notice says not to use, sell, serve or distribute the affected product. The CFIA classified the recall as Class 2, meaning there is a moderate risk that consuming the food could cause short-term or non-life-threatening health problems.

For public enquiries, contact the CFIA at information@inspection.gc.ca or 1 (613) 773-2342. Health or safety concerns can also be reported online.

Other food recalls have been announced recently. On Tuesday, Loblaw recalled two brands of seafood products sold nationwide because of an undeclared ingredient that could trigger an allergic reaction. A popular brand of hot pepper paste was recently recalled because it contained undeclared wheat. People with a wheat allergy, celiac disease or other gluten-related disorders should not consume the products. So Delicious Dairy-Free Salted Caramel frozen dessert was also recalled over the potential presence of plastic-like and gravel-like pieces.
