Burnaby’s Mitchell Printers closes after 98 years
Mitchell Press Ltd., a Riverbend Court print shop operating from a plant of more than 60,000 square feet, thanked its staff and said further announcements may follow.

Mitchell Printers, also known as Mitchell Press Ltd., is closing after 98 years. The Burnaby print shop is located on Riverbend Court, according to its Instagram profile.
The company operates from a plant of more than 60,000 square feet. It began as a financial newspaper and evolved into what it describes as a highly regarded heatset web and digital printing company. Mitchell said it was extremely proud of what it had achieved over nearly a century.
Its work includes the Capture Photography Festival catalogue, which is often distributed free at places such as Vancouver coffee shops.
Members of Burnaby’s local business community and people from across Metro Vancouver posted condolences following the announcement. One commenter called the closure a huge loss for the design community, while a representative of another printing company expressed sympathy for printing representatives they had worked with over the years.
Mitchell thanked its team, saying its legacy resulted from decades of dedication, loyalty, professionalism and expertise from the people who worked there. The company said it was deeply grateful for their contributions, indicated that further announcements may be made, and thanked the public for being part of its 98-year history.
