Surrey mayoral candidate Honveer Singh Randhawa pledges tax cuts and public safety measures
Randhawa, who lost the 2024 Surrey-Guildford Conservative race by 22 votes, is running for Surrey mayor. His proposals include a one-time $600 homeowner tax cut, a residential property tax freeze and expanded policing.

Honveer Singh Randhawa is a father and anti-extortion advocate who came within 22 votes of winning the 2024 Conservative race in Surrey-Guildford. He is now running for mayor of Surrey. Voters go to the polls Oct. 17.
His top three priorities are a one-time $600 tax cut for every homeowner and a 0% increase in residential property taxes; affordable pet care for seniors, veterans and people with disabilities; and an indoor swimming pool at Clayton Community Centre.
Randhawa says Surrey families are being squeezed and City Hall should tighten its own belt before asking residents for more. He says he would fund the one-time tax cut through a line-by-line review of city spending, cutting consultant costs and non-essential projects while protecting frontline services. He also proposes a 5% commercial tax cut for small businesses, no business licensing fees and free water meters to help reduce water bills.
On public safety, Randhawa says too many families are afraid to answer calls from unknown numbers and too many business owners have seen shots fired at their doors. He says he has joined residents on the streets to protest extortion. If elected, he would advocate for an anti-extortion task force, fund 600 additional police personnel and bring back School Liaison Officers to protect youth. He also proposes building a modern tactical training centre and deploying a drone fleet with data deleted after 24 hours to protect privacy.
Randhawa describes himself as a young community advocate offering practical, accountable leadership focused on residents’ finances, families and safety. He says he will deliver.
