Candidate nominations open for 2026 Port Moody local and school board election
Nominations for Port Moody mayor, council and school trustee positions close at 4 p.m. on Sept. 11 ahead of the Oct. 17 election.

The nomination period is open for Port Moody’s 2026 general local and school board election, which will be held Saturday, Oct. 17. Nominations for mayor, councillor and school trustee positions must be received by the chief election officer by 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11.
Candidate information packages and nomination forms are available at portmoody.ca/vote. Printed copies may be requested by emailing elections@portmoody.ca. Completed forms may be delivered to City Hall at 100 Newport Drive, mailed to the Election Office at the same address, or faxed to 604-469-4550, with candidates asked to confirm fax transmission with the office.
The city strongly encourages candidates to book an appointment with the chief election officer so documents can be reviewed upon submission and election information and questions can be addressed. Appointments are available by email at elections@portmoody.ca, by phone at 604-469-4505 or at the Legislative Services counter on City Hall’s first floor.
Late, incomplete or insufficient nomination documents will not be accepted. Candidates must be at least 18 on general voting day, be Canadian citizens, have lived in B.C. for at least six months before nomination and not be disqualified by law.
The city will post candidate profiles and completed nomination documents at portmoody.ca/vote as they are received from Sept. 1 to 11. Voters will elect one mayor, six councillors and two trustees for the School District 43 Board of Education. The four-year terms run from November 2026 to October 2030.
