Two dead in southern Alberta plane crash as investigators struggle to reach site
A single-engine Cirrus SR22 bound for Campbell River, B.C., crashed about 25 minutes after departing Springbank, Alta.; weather and terrain are hindering access.

Two people were killed when a single-engine Cirrus SR22 crashed in southern Alberta, as weather and the location of the wreckage hinder investigators’ access to the site.
The Transportation Safety Board said the aircraft left Springbank, Alta., shortly after 8:50 a.m. Saturday on an instrument flight to Campbell River, B.C., and crashed about 25 minutes later.
RCMP said the crash site is near Mount McDougall in Kananaskis Country, about 55 kilometres west-southwest of the departure airport. The two people who died were the aircraft’s only occupants, and their bodies had not been recovered as of Sunday morning.
