Saturday, Oct. 17, is General Voting Day for the 2026 Richmond Local Government and School Election. Eligible Richmond voters can cast ballots at their designated voting place between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. The races are for one mayor, eight councillors and seven school trustees. Voters can find their designated location at https://richmond.ca/electionservices/votingOpportunities/SearchVotingPlace.aspx.
Voters registered for a mail ballot may drop off their completed envelope at any of 38 locations on General Voting Day or use the drop box at Richmond City Hall. Mail ballot packages must be received by 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17, to be counted. The list of locations is at https://richmond.ca/electionservices/votingOpportunities/VotingDivisions.aspx.
To protect privacy and the election process, photos, videos and audio recordings, including selfies, are not permitted inside voting places. Selfies are permitted outside. The City of Richmond uses automated vote-counting machines, so initial unofficial results are expected soon after polls close. Results will be posted as they are counted at richmond.ca/elections (https://www.richmond.ca/city-hall/elections.htm) and updated on the Richmond Election app, available through the Apple App Store and Google Play.
Under the Local Government Act, results posted on Saturday night will remain unofficial until the Chief Election Officer declares the official results before 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21. More information is available at richmond.ca/elections (https://www.richmond.ca/city-hall/elections.htm).
