Three Khalistan referendum activists say they received RCMP threat warnings
Three activists, including a Surrey resident, say the RCMP warned them of credible and imminent threats to their lives. The federal force would not confirm individual notices.

Three Khalistan referendum activists say they have received RCMP “duty to warn” notices about credible and imminent threats to their lives.
Narinder Singh Randhawa of Surrey said he received a second notice on Aug. 16. Manjinder Singh of Abbotsford and Inderjeet Singh Gosal of Caledon, Ont., also said they were warned.
The men were friends of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, the former president of Surrey's Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara, who was shot and killed in the temple parking lot in June 2023. Nijjar had received a similar warning 11 months before his death, according to the report.
An RCMP spokesperson declined to confirm notices involving the three men, citing privacy. The force said law enforcement agencies across Canada have conducted duty-to-warn notifications with members of the South Asian community.
Gosal said he declined an alleged offer of witness protection and intends to continue organizing an Oct. 18 Khalistan referendum in Alberta.
