Man arrested after alleged assault and vehicle collision in South Surrey
A 37-year-old man faces five Criminal Code charges after an alleged assault, vehicle collision and knife incident at Redwood Park in South Surrey.

Surrey Police Service was called to Redwood Park near 179 Street and 20 Avenue at about 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 9, after a man allegedly assaulted another person.
Police said the alleged victim tried to leave in a Ford pickup truck, but the suspect allegedly drove a Jeep Wrangler into it. After the victim ran from the truck, the suspect allegedly displayed a knife and chased him. A nearby witness driving a Tesla provided the victim with safety until officers arrived, according to a police release.
Several officers responded and arrested the suspect without incident. Richard Mark James Evoy, 37, has been charged by BC Prosecution Service with assault with a weapon, assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, criminal harassment and uttering threats.
Evoy was remanded in custody and was scheduled to appear in Surrey Provincial Court on Thursday, Sept. 10, to determine his next appearance date. Police said they have identified and spoken with witnesses, and asked anyone with information who has not yet spoken with officers to call 604-599-0502 and reference file 26-96726 (SP).
