Vancouver police officer charged with fraud denies wrongdoing
Vancouver Police Department officer Kalwinder Dosanjh denies wrongdoing after his arrest on nine charges involving at least 19 alleged victims.

Vancouver Police Department officer Kalwinder Dosanjh has denied any wrongdoing in a statement issued through his lawyer.
Dosanjh was arrested last week and faces nine charges involving at least 19 alleged victims. The veteran VPD officer denies the allegations and says he looks forward to defending himself in court.
He said he has complete confidence in his legal counsel and the Canadian justice system, and would allow the evidence and facts to speak for themselves. Dosanjh said he remains committed to the community he has served throughout his policing career, adding that he has devoted more than 26 years to that work and intends to continue supporting the community.
The arrest followed a lengthy VPD investigation.
Dosanjh’s lawyer, Joven Narwal, raised concerns about VPD investigating one of its own officers instead of appointing an external agency. Narwal said the arrangement raises legitimate questions about investigative independence, objectivity and the safeguards used when a police department investigates one of its members, particularly in a case the department has framed as a matter of public trust.
