President Donald Trump’s childhood home in Queens, New York, has sold for $1.93 million after an extensive renovation, according to real estate websites. The buyer, who has not been identified, entered into a contract in July.

Trump lived in the Tudor-style home until he was 4. His father, developer Fred Trump, built the house in the affluent Jamaica Estates neighbourhood in 1940, and the family has not owned it for years.

Seller Tommy Lin bought the five-bedroom, three-bathroom house last year for $835,000 after it had sat vacant and neglected for years. The New York Post reported that Lin spent another $500,000 on an eight-month interior renovation, adding a chef’s kitchen, herringbone wood floors and spa-like bathrooms.

The Post reported that the property had suffered water damage and mould after a pipe burst, while feral cats had taken up residence in the home. Zillow records show the property sold for $2.14 million months after Trump became president in 2017.

That buyer was an entity called Trump Birth Home LLC, which briefly offered the property as an Airbnb rental furnished with Trump cardboard cutout replicas, copies of his book, The Art of the Deal, and a framed People magazine cover featuring him. The house was listed again in 2019 for $2.9 million but did not sell before Lin purchased it.
