Surrey Schools welcomes students to the 2026–27 school year
Surrey Schools says the new year will bring more classrooms, stronger literacy and numeracy foundations, and renewed attention to student wellbeing, belonging and responsible AI use.

Surrey Schools has marked the start of the 2026–27 school year, welcoming students, staff and families back to classrooms in Surrey and White Rock. The district is sharing welcome-back videos from Superintendent Mark Pearmain and board chair Gary Tymoschuk.
The district says this school year will focus on more classrooms, stronger foundations in literacy and numeracy, and renewed attention to wellbeing and belonging. It also plans to continue advocating for children on artificial intelligence, particularly on safety, privacy and responsible use.
Surrey Schools says the work is intended to prepare students with skills, critical thinking, resilience and communication abilities to succeed at school and beyond.
