Vancouver Canucks goalie Thatcher Demko will be a limited participant at training camp
Thatcher Demko will skate but not join the main group as he continues recovering from season-ending hip surgery in late January, Canucks GM Ryan Johnson says.

Goalie Thatcher Demko will not be a full participant when the Vancouver Canucks open training camp Thursday in Penticton, B.C.
General manager Ryan Johnson said the 30-year-old American netminder will skate but will not be part of the main group as he continues to recover from hip surgery in late January that ended his season. Johnson said the arrangement is part of the NHL club’s process to return Demko to full health.
The former Vezina finalist has been hampered by injuries in recent seasons. He made 20 appearances in the 2025-26 campaign, posting an 8-10-1 record, a 2.90 goals-against average and a .897 save percentage.
Demko’s last game was Jan. 10, when he left midway through Vancouver’s 5-0 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Kevin Lankinen took over as the Canucks’ starter, and the team finished at the bottom of the NHL standings.
