Coquitlam’s fall Repair Café marks three years and more than 650 repairs
Coquitlam residents can bring one household item for repair to the Maillardville Community Centre on Oct. 10, with appointments recommended.

Coquitlam residents can bring common household items needing repair to the fall Repair Café at Maillardville Community Centre on Oct. 10. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1200 Cartier Avenue; appointments are recommended, although drop-ins will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Items will not be accepted after 1:30 p.m.
The event marks three years since Repair Café opened in Coquitlam. Skilled volunteers have repaired more than 650 items to date, helping keep them in use and out of landfill. Repair help may include bicycle tune-ups; troubleshooting for radios, fans and lamps; textile and clothing repairs; small appliances; furniture; and desktops, laptops, external devices and software support.
Residents should bring any required specific parts, as parts are not supplied. The Repair Café can accept one item per person at a time, with a second item potentially considered if time permits. The City describes the event as a skill-sharing workshop and community gathering that can help residents learn repair skills, save money and reduce waste.
New for 2026, the City is working with the Society Promoting Environmental Conservation (SPEC) as a host organization for Repair Cafés. The charity focuses on sustainable food systems, zero waste, renewable energy and green transportation, and brings experience from coordinating Repair Cafés in Vancouver for three years.
