Auto transporter impounded after alleged speeding in Coquihalla work zone
A Calgary driver’s fully loaded auto transport truck was impounded for seven days after police allege it travelled nearly 110 km/h in a 60 km/h construction zone near Merritt.

A Calgary driver’s company-owned auto transport truck has been impounded after it was allegedly clocked at nearly 110 km/h in a 60 km/h construction zone on the Coquihalla Highway near Merritt.
BC Highway Patrol says the fully loaded truck was stopped shortly after 9:30 a.m. on July 31. Officers activated lights and sirens, but say the truck travelled through the entire work zone before pulling over.
A Level 1 inspection found safety deficiencies in both the tractor and trailer, police said. Tickets were issued for problems including brake performance, inoperable yellow marker lamps and tire condition. Vehicles on the trailer were unloaded at the scene.
The Surrey-based registered owner is responsible for towing and the seven-day impound costs. Total fines exceeded $1,400, police said.
