A 15-year-old boy has been arrested and charged with weapons possession after a report of someone with a firearm on the SkyTrain, Vancouver police say.

Police responded to Nanaimo SkyTrain Station at about 5:25 p.m. Saturday after a teenager allegedly showed a firearm to a passenger before boarding an eastbound train. Officers broadcast a description of the suspect to regional law-enforcement partners.

Metro Vancouver Transit Police located the youth on the platform at Edmonds SkyTrain Station and took him into custody. Police say a search found a replica firearm and a knife. No one was injured.

The youth was transferred to Vancouver police custody, taken to jail and later released. Const. Darren Wong said the situation had the potential to be dangerous regardless of whether the gun was real. The charge has not been tested in court. VPD file: 2026-129150.
