Advance voting opens in North Vancouver—Capilano byelection
Advance polls are open through Monday in the North Vancouver—Capilano federal byelection, where six candidates are seeking to replace former MP Johnathan Wilkinson.

Advance voting is underway in the North Vancouver—Capilano federal byelection, with polling available Friday through Monday ahead of the Aug. 31 election day. Elections Canada says voters must live in the riding and vote at their assigned polling place; locations can be confirmed at elections.ca using a postal code.
The vacancy followed Johnathan Wilkinson’s appointment earlier this year as Canada’s ambassador to the European Union, after more than a decade as the riding’s MP. The candidates are Liberal Braeden Caley, Conservative Stephen Curran, Green Shelley Luce, NDP candidate Stephen Tweedale, People’s Party of Canada candidate Ehsan Arj-mand and independent Jeff Monds.
Political scientist Stewart Prest said the riding has long been a safe Liberal seat, though byelections can offer an indication of sentiment among politically engaged voters. Nearly 350 election workers are assisting at dozens of advance polling stations across the riding.
