NDP focuses on Surrey battleground as B.C. election enters home stretch
With B.C.’s election campaign in its final days, health care remains a major issue. NDP Leader David Eby is scheduled to make an announcement at the Surrey Hospital construction site as advance voting closes.

Health care remains a major issue on the British Columbia election agenda as the campaign enters its final days. NDP Leader David Eby is scheduled to make an announcement at the Surrey Hospital construction site in Surrey, an election battleground. The appearance comes a day after he announced a $30-million expansion of Kelowna General Hospital on Tuesday.
With final voting day on Saturday approaching, both the NDP and B.C. Conservatives have made a series of health-care pledges, including plans to build new urgent and primary care facilities across B.C. The Conservatives say health care is in crisis in the province, with 1.2 million British Columbians without a family doctor.
B.C. Conservatives interim leader Lorne Doerkson has also focused on fundraising in the campaign’s home stretch. He has two events scheduled for Wednesday, following five others over the past week.
Advance voting closes at 8 p.m. today. Elections BC says about 711,000 people voted in the first five days of advance polling, down about 9 per cent from the first five days of advance voting in 2024. The Canadian Press first published this report on Oct. 21, 2026.
