Coquitlam councillor Teri Towner seeks re-election
Coquitlam Coun. Teri Towner says she will run as an independent in the Oct. 17 municipal election after 12 years on council.

Coquitlam Coun. Teri Towner has announced she will seek re-election as an independent in the Oct. 17 municipal election.
Towner, who has served 12 years on council, said the next term will require experienced leadership as the city deals with growth, housing and affordability pressures, transportation, public safety, infrastructure needs and changes tied to provincial housing legislation.
She pointed to rental housing supported through the city’s Housing Affordability Strategy, investments in parks and recreation, public-safety resources, environmental initiatives and community partnerships as work completed during her time on council. Towner said the city must continue building complete communities with the services and amenities residents need.
Towner chairs Coquitlam’s Economic Development Advisory Committee and Cultural Services Advisory Committee, and serves on regional committees dealing with affordable housing and governance. She is also involved with Local Leaders for Mental Health and volunteers on seniors’ and environmental initiatives.
