Teen fined $938 after alleged e-dirt bike flight from Burnaby RCMP
RCMP say a 16-year-old was speeding and doing wheelies in North Burnaby before allegedly fleeing a traffic stop. He was later ticketed and could face a Class 7 licence suspension.

A 16-year-old e-dirt bike rider received $938 in fines after allegedly fleeing an attempted traffic stop in Burnaby last week, RCMP say.
Police said the teen was speeding and doing wheelies on Government Road in North Burnaby on Friday. When an officer tried to stop him, he allegedly entered oncoming traffic, ran a stop sign and left the area. The officer did not continue the pursuit because of public-safety concerns.
The rider returned about 25 minutes later, according to Burnaby RCMP. Police contacted his father, who attended the scene, and issued several violation tickets, including for failing to stop for police and driving without consideration.
RCMP said outstanding fines must be paid before a driver's licence can be issued, and the teen will likely have his Class 7 licence suspended. Cpl. Mike Kalanj said e-dirt bikes are not permitted on public roads regardless of a rider's age, and that a licence suspension and fine are preferable to the consequences seen in recent collisions involving such vehicles.
