Bilal Cheema is running for Surrey city council with Surrey First
The former Surrey Police Board member and South Asian Community Hub chair lists public safety, taxpayer accountability and stronger community connections among his priorities, including completing the transition to the Surrey Police Service.

Bilal Cheema is a Surrey First candidate for Surrey city council. A lifelong community volunteer and engaged leader, he is a government relations professional and former member of the Surrey Police Board. He also formerly chaired the South Asian Community Hub. His campaign focus is public safety and cultural integration.
Cheema’s three priorities are to make Surrey safer through visible policing, prevention and stronger community partnerships; protect taxpayers through responsible spending, accountability and better city services; and build more engaged communities by creating opportunity, connection and local economic growth.
Asked to expand on one priority, Cheema said he would complete the transition to the Surrey Police Service. He also described his priorities as stronger policing, prevention, accountability and coordinated community partnerships; disciplined spending, transparency and measurable results; and connecting residents, businesses, organizations and all levels of government to build stronger, more engaged communities.
Cheema said his significant experience in government and community leadership gives him an understanding of how decisions are made and how to turn priorities into action, build partnerships, secure results and deliver for Surrey residents. He said he brings collaborative government experience, community leadership, public safety knowledge and a practical, action-oriented approach focused on accountability, partnerships and results.
