One suspect arrested and another sought after Vancouver teen was slashed in the face
A 29-year-old man faces robbery and aggravated-assault charges after a 19-year-old was allegedly robbed of a chain necklace and slashed downtown. Police are seeking a second suspect.

Vancouver police say a 29-year-old man has been arrested and another suspect remains at large after a 19-year-old was allegedly robbed and slashed with a blade in the city’s downtown.
Police said the attack occurred at about 3:20 a.m. on Aug. 8 while the victim was with friends in the 900 block of Granville Street. Two men allegedly approached the group, removed a chain necklace from the victim’s neck and cut him with a blade. The victim reportedly suffered a 13-centimetre cut across his face, from the tip of his nose beneath his eye to his eyebrow.
Investigators arrested Garret William Thomas, 29, in the Downtown Eastside on Sept. 18 and searched his home that day, police said. He has been charged with robbery and aggravated assault and remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
Police have released surveillance images of a second man believed to have been involved and are asking anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact the Vancouver Police Department’s major crime section at 604-717-2541.
