A 72-year-old man died after his ATV left a trail near the former Gladstone Mine in Peachland, rolled down a steep embankment and came to rest against trees, police say.

A 72-year-old man died Wednesday after an ATV crash near the former Gladstone Mine in Peachland, West Kelowna RCMP say.
Police said the man had been riding off-road with a companion on trails commonly used by off-road vehicles when the two became separated. Preliminary findings indicate his ATV left the trail, went down a steep embankment, rolled and came to rest against trees.
The rider died at the scene. Search and rescue volunteers helped recover him and the vehicle.
RCMP say impairment has been ruled out as a contributing factor so far. The B.C. Coroners Service is investigating with police to determine the cause of the crash.
