Beau Simpson, a Safe Surrey Coalition candidate, is a Cloverdale father of two, an eight-year baseball coach and an award-winning former Surrey Now-Leader editor. He says he spent 15 years holding city hall accountable from outside government.

His three priorities are an independent forensic audit of every city hall land deal; “Farm Local,” to protect farmland and let farmers sell directly; and a new pool for Clayton Heights and Cloverdale.

Simpson says Clayton Heights and Cloverdale are among Surrey’s fastest-growing neighbourhoods but still have no year-round pool, leaving families to drive outside their neighbourhoods for swimming lessons. He says Newton’s pool was under construction and due to open in 2025 before city hall cancelled it; four years in, it remains unbuilt. He says a Safe Surrey Coalition council would build pools for Clayton Heights and Cloverdale.

Asked why voters should support him, Simpson said he has spent 15 years asking city hall hard questions from the outside and would get answers if sent inside.
