Surrey election to offer 52 voting locations Oct. 17, 10 advance sites and mail-in voting
Surrey voters will elect a mayor, eight city councillors and six school trustees on Oct. 17, with advance, mail-in and accessible voting options available.

Surrey residents are being urged to vote in the municipal election on Oct. 17. Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 52 locations across the city.
The election, held every four years, will see Surrey voters choose a mayor, eight city councillors and six school trustees, as civic elections are held elsewhere in B.C. that day. The candidate nomination period runs from Sept. 1 to 11, followed by more than a month of campaigning.
Advance voting will be available Oct. 7, 10, 14 and 15 at 10 sites listed on surrey.ca. Voters should bring identification and their voter card, which will be mailed in late September or early October. Surrey uses the Provincial Voters List from Elections BC to create its list of eligible voters.
Accessible options include curbside voting at all locations and mail-in ballots. Voters can use Surrey’s interactive voting-locations map to find a site and check wait times.
The Surrey & White Rock Board of Trade has scheduled all-candidate forums ahead of the fall civic election. White Rock council candidates will appear Sept. 21 and mayoral candidates Sept. 22 at White Rock Community Centre. Surrey-focused council and mayoral forums are set for Oct. 6 and Oct. 7, respectively, at Sheraton Vancouver Guildford Hotel. Spectators can register at swrbot.com/events.
