Delta School District welcomes community back for 2026-27 school year

Delta School District has welcomed students, families and staff to the 2026-27 school year, with everyone set to return on Tuesday, Sept. 8 following a longer-than-normal summer break.

In a back-to-school message, the district said it looks forward to seeing schools and district sites come alive again with the community’s energy, ideas and enthusiasm. It encouraged students to return rested, refreshed and ready to give their best effort.

The district said the coming year will offer opportunities for learning, growth, achievement and connection. It added that success depends not only on talent and ability, but also on perseverance, commitment and a willingness to learn from challenges.

Delta School District said it remains committed to learning environments where every student and staff member has a strong sense of belonging, connection and purpose. It said compassion, responsibility, integrity, creativity, diversity and resilience can help the community pursue personal excellence, support well-being and achieve shared success.

Under its Vision for 2030, the district says its schools should encourage curiosity, respect differing perspectives and foster meaningful relationships. The vision aims to help learners develop their potential and gain the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to contribute to a healthy society and a prosperous, sustainable economy.

The district invited community members to consider how they can help build an innovative and inclusive community at their school or district site. Delta Board of Education chair Joe Muego and superintendent of schools Doug Sheppard wished students, families and staff a successful, rewarding and exciting year ahead.
