Multi-vehicle crash involving a double-decker bus closes Highway 99 in Delta

A serious multi-vehicle crash closed Highway 99 just east of the Highway 91 interchange in Delta on Friday afternoon. Dash cam footage shows a truck crossing the median and crashing into several cars, including a double-decker transit bus.

Surrey police said in a later update that one person was taken to hospital with minor injuries. It is not known whether the bus was carrying passengers. Surrey Fire Services and BCEHS paramedics were at the scene.

Tow trucks were working to remove vehicles that could not be driven. Police expected the route to remain closed for several hours. In a post dated Oct. 17, DriveBC said Highway 99 was closed in both directions south of Highway 91 because of a vehicle incident and warned of major congestion and delays.
