Vancouver approves floating spa for Kitsilano waterfront
Council unanimously approved rezoning for a floating sauna and hydrotherapy spa at Heritage Harbour Marina, with opening anticipated in 2027.

Vancouver city council has unanimously approved rezoning for a floating wellness spa on the Kitsilano waterfront.
The project will repurpose a Second World War-era barge as a sauna and hydrotherapy facility at Heritage Harbour Marina, on the Vancouver Maritime Museum property. It is expected to open in 2027.
The museum partnered with HAVN Saunas on the proposal. HAVN already operates a floating spa in Victoria’s Inner Harbour and, under the agreement, will provide funding to the Vancouver Maritime Museum Society. The partners hope the attraction will increase museum visits.
Council received 139 letters supporting the proposal and 90 opposing it. Supporters pointed to possible tourism and economic benefits, while opponents raised concerns about blocked views and added traffic.
HAVN estimates the facility could receive 200 to 300 visitors a day.
