Vancouver police arrest woman after alleged assault on mother and baby
Vancouver police say a woman was arrested after allegedly demanding money from a mother walking with her one-year-old in a stroller and grabbing the child by the hair. Police are also investigating two later reported incidents involving a man and a liquor store.

Vancouver Police Department officers arrested a woman yesterday in connection with alleged assaults on a one-year-old baby and the child’s mother. At about 4:40 p.m., the mother was walking with her baby in a stroller on East Hastings Street near Princess Avenue when an unknown woman approached. The mother told police the woman demanded money and, during the altercation, grabbed the baby by the hair. No one was physically injured.
Shortly after the incident, CCTV footage captured a woman matching the suspect’s description approaching an unidentified man and punching him in the face. An altercation followed, and the suspect left. About 10 minutes later, police received a report that a woman matching the description was trying to steal alcohol from a nearby liquor store.
Police attended and arrested the suspect. She was taken to jail and then to hospital for a pre-existing condition. Police are requesting assault charges and a warrant to be issued upon her release from hospital. The investigation is ongoing.
