Surrey Schools issues notice on 2026 trustee elections
Surrey Schools will hold a Sept. 1 information session for community members considering a run for school trustee in the 2026 General School Election.

The Board of Education of School District 36 has six trustees elected from the City of Surrey and one elected from the City of White Rock. Trustees set the district’s educational goals and priorities, approve budgets reflecting those priorities, establish policy, plan for the district’s future and keep the community informed on education matters.
Under the School Act, trustees make public-education decisions on behalf of Surrey and White Rock residents. They govern collectively: decisions are debated and voted on at board meetings, and no individual trustee, committee or chairperson may act for the board alone. Professional staff, led by the superintendent, manage daily district operations, while the board provides governance and strategic direction.
Ahead of the 2026 General School Election, Surrey Schools will host a one-hour information session for community members considering a school trustee candidacy. It is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 7 p.m. in Room 205 of the district’s Resource and Education Center, 14123 92 nd Ave., Surrey, B.C.
Notices of nomination for Surrey School District trustee positions are available through the City of Surrey and City of White Rock. More information is available at surreyschools.ca/elections.
