Urgent nationwide recall issued for common painkiller in Canada
Health Canada has recalled one lot of Novo-Gesic Forte 500 mg acetaminophen because it may contain foreign material that could injure the digestive system if ingested.

Health Canada has issued a nationwide recall for one lot of the non-prescription painkiller Novo-Gesic Forte 500 mg (acetaminophen). Teva Canada Limited is recalling the product because it may contain phenolic resin or epoxy, which could injure the digestive system if ingested.
The affected product has Drug Identification Number 00482323, lot number 100083040 and an expiry date of Jan. 31, 2029. Pharmacies received the medication in 1,000-count bottles and dispensed it to patients in smaller quantities.
Anyone with the recalled product should stop using it immediately and return it to a local pharmacy for proper disposal and a replacement. People unsure whether their medication is affected should check with their pharmacy.
Canadians are urged to report possible side effects or complaints to Health Canada. Questions about the recall can also be directed to Teva Canada Customer Care at 1 (800) 268-4129 or customer.service@tevacanada.com.
Health Canada says it is monitoring the recall and the company’s preventative and corrective actions. The department says it will take appropriate action and inform Canadians if additional safety concerns arise.
