Ackles to lead Surrey's organizing team for 2027 55+ BC Games
Scott Ackles will head the 13-member board planning Surrey's 2027 55+ BC Games, expected to draw nearly 3,500 participants and 1,000 volunteers next September.

Scott Ackles will lead the 13-member organizing board for the Surrey 2027 55+ BC Games, scheduled for Sept. 14 to 18 next year.
The annual event, described as British Columbia's largest multi-sport competition for adults 55 and older, is expected to bring nearly 3,500 participants and 1,000 volunteers to Surrey. Sports will include 8-ball pool, cycling, horseshoes, pickleball, table tennis, archery, darts and hockey.
Surrey was named host of the 40th annual Games in November 2022. Mayor Brenda Locke said the event is intended to promote activity, community connections and recognition of older adults' contributions.
Ackles is executive director of the Semiahmoo Ravens Minor Hockey Association in South Surrey and is known for work with the BC Lions and the BC Football Hall of Fame. The board held its first meeting May 27 and plans to visit the Kamloops 2026 Games in September as preparations continue. More information is available at 55plusbcgames.org.
