Pirate-themed runners and walkers take over Richmond’s West Dyke
The fifth annual Big Pirate Run brought participants of all ages to Garry Point Park for distances ranging from one to 21.1 kilometres.

The fifth annual Big Pirate Run took place at Garry Point Park this past weekend, with pirate-costumed runners and walkers making their way along Richmond’s West Dyke.
Participants of all ages could choose 5-kilometre, 10-kilometre, 15-kilometre and 21.1-kilometre distances. A one- to three-kilometre Little Pirate Run/Walk was also held around Garry Point Park. Participants with strollers and leashed dogs were welcome and started in the final wave for everyone’s safety.
As it did last year, the event partnered with the Richmond Food Bank, which provides healthy food to more than 2,200 people in need each week.
