One man charged and another sought after teen allegedly slashed in face on Granville Street
Vancouver police say a 29-year-old man has been charged after a 19-year-old was allegedly robbed and slashed with a blade on Granville Street. A second suspect is being sought.

Crown counsel has approved charges after a 19-year-old was allegedly robbed and slashed in the face with a blade on Granville Street last month, Vancouver police say.
Police said the victim was with friends in the 900-block of Granville Street at about 3:20 a.m. on Aug. 8 when two men approached them. During the encounter, the victim’s chain necklace was removed and he was slashed. The five-inch wound extended from the tip of his nose, beneath his eye and toward his eyebrow.
Vancouver Police arrested 29-year-old Garret William Thomas in the Downtown Eastside on Sept. 18 and executed a search warrant at his residence that day. Thomas is charged with one count each of robbery and aggravated assault. He remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
Investigators are seeking help identifying a second suspect allegedly involved in the robbery. Anyone with information is asked to call the Vancouver Police Major Crime Section at 604-717-2541.
