The Price is Right Live host Newton brings the show to Surrey after mentorship from Bob Barker

The Price is Right Live, an interactive and non-televised version of the game show, will play Surrey’s Bell Performing Arts Centre at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3. Longtime host Newton is touring Canada with the show this fall.

Newton said he has been with the production since it began in 2001 and was mentored by Bob Barker and Sande Stewart. Randomly selected audience members are invited onstage to play Plinko, Cliff Hangers, The Big Wheel and other games for prizes.

Unlike the television program, the live show is not restricted to an hour or commercial breaks, Newton said, and can run for 90 minutes or two hours depending on the audience. More people are called to contestants’ row, and no contestants are selected in advance. Audience members scan a QR code when entering the theatre to register through randomizing software for a chance to play.

Born and raised in St. Louis, Newton began with The Price is Right Live in Reno, Nevada, then held a seven-year residency in Las Vegas. He now tours North America with the all-ages show.
