McLean Park Playground reopens with accessible play features
Richmond marked the reopening of the renewed McLean Neighbourhood Park Playground on Sept. 28, with new play areas and accessible features for children aged two to 12.

The City of Richmond celebrated the opening of the renewed McLean Neighbourhood Park Playground on Monday, Sept. 28, 2026. The project adds accessible play opportunities for children and families to explore, build friendships and have fun. The 12-acre park is at 22500 McLean Avenue, and the playground has two areas designed for different age groups.
The area for children aged two to five includes new accessible play components, including a double car and a non-verbal communication board. The features were supported by a $12,000 grant from the Government of Canada's Enabling Accessibility Fund.
A larger area is designed for children aged five to 12, with new features intended to encourage physical activity, imaginative play, sensory exploration and social interaction. Additions include monkey bars, a merry-go-round, an embankment slide, and sensory and percussion play components.
The Hamilton Community Association contributed $100,000 toward the renewal, helping support the addition of engaging play equipment for children and families. The city says the renewed playground reflects its commitment to safe, accessible and engaging spaces where residents of all ages can connect, participate and play in their neighbourhood.
