Surrey Police Service reaches renewed four-year collective agreement
The agreement covers 2025 through 2028 and provides wage increases totalling about $14.283 million, or 13 per cent of baseline wages.

The Surrey Police Board and Surrey Police Union have reached a renewed collective agreement covering Jan. 1, 2025, through Dec. 31, 2028.
The agreement includes general wage increases in line with other municipal police departments for 2025 and 2026, followed by increases of 4.25 per cent in 2027 and four per cent in 2028. The board says the settlement aligns with its costing mandate for parity with Vancouver Police wage and benefit improvements negotiated in fall 2025.
The total increase is approximately $14.283 million, or 13 per cent of baseline wages, and was included in the 2026 operating budget. The board says the agreement provides labour and cost certainty during the service’s transition, including taking responsibility for policing in Guildford and Fleetwood, recruiting and retaining officers, and moving to a new Chief Constable.
Surrey Police Union president Ryan Buhrig said the agreement offers stability after years of uncertainty and may help morale and workload concerns. Board chair Perm Jawanda said it strengthens the relationship among the union, Surrey Police Service, the board and the City of Surrey.
