Vancouver man charged in connection with two break-ins
Police say two South Vancouver homes were broken into Thursday morning, and 64-year-old Daryl Silas Hunt has been charged with break and enter and attempted break and enter.

The Vancouver Police Department said officers were first called to a break-in at a home near East 49th Avenue and McKinnon Street on Thursday morning, then to a second home near West 48th Street and Ontario Street. The locations are about five kilometres apart, according to Google Maps. In the first incident, an intruder removed a window screen at about 9:45 a.m. The homeowner heard noises, left the shower to confront him, and the intruder fled without taking anything, police said.
In the second incident, a man matching the same description allegedly broke a window and entered the home, then stole several items and left, police said. Officers with police dogs later found and arrested a suspect.
The VPD said 64-year-old Daryl Silas Hunt has been charged with one count of break and enter and one count of attempted break and enter. Online court records show Hunt remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 15.
Investigators believe the suspect may be linked to additional break-ins in Vancouver, the VPD said. Anyone who has experienced a break-in and has not reported it is asked to contact the VPD and file a report.
