City of Port Moody issues advance voting notice for 2026 general local election
Advance voting will take place Oct. 7 and Oct. 10 at the Port Moody Recreation Complex, with eligible voters able to register at the polls.

The City of Port Moody will hold two advance voting opportunities for the 2026 General Local Election in the Wellness Room at the Port Moody Recreation Complex, 300 Ioco Road. Voting will run from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2026, and Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026.
People not already on the list of electors may register when voting by completing the application form available at the polling place and declaring that they meet the requirements. To register as a resident elector, a person must be 18 or older on or before General Voting Day, be a Canadian citizen, have lived in British Columbia for at least six months immediately before registering, live in the City of Port Moody when registering, and not be disqualified from voting under the Local Government Act or another law. Resident electors registering at the polls must show two pieces of identification, including at least one bearing a signature. Photo identification is not required, but the documents must establish identity and residency.
To register as a non-resident property elector, a person must be 18 or older on or before General Voting Day, be a Canadian citizen, have lived in British Columbia for at least six months immediately before registering, have been a registered owner of Port Moody real property for at least 30 days immediately before registering, and not be entitled to register as a resident elector or otherwise disqualified from voting. They must provide two pieces of identification, including one with a signature, proof of their entitlement to register in relation to the property, and written consent from a majority of owners if the property has more than one owner.
Non-resident property electors must be registered owners, either as joint tenants or tenants in common, and cannot hold the property in trust for a corporation or another trust. Where a property has more than one individual owner, only one may register as a non-resident property elector, with written permission from a majority of owners.
Examples of acceptable identification include a B.C. driver’s licence; a B.C. services card, CareCard or Gold CareCard; an ICBC owner’s certificate of insurance and vehicle licence; a social insurance number card; a citizenship card or certificate; a debit or credit card or financial-institution statement; and government-issued documents such as a cheque stub, pension-plan benefits statement, Old Age Security statement or income tax assessment notice. Canadian Forces identification, a Government of Canada document confirming registration under the Indian Act (Canada), such as a status card, a First Nation citizenship or membership card, and a Métis Nation British Columbia citizenship card are also listed as examples.
