Delta school district seeks volunteers for accessibility advisory committee
The Delta School District is seeking student, staff and community volunteers for its Accessibility Advisory Committee. Applications are due Nov. 2, 2026; shortlisted applicants may be asked to attend a short interview.

The Delta School District (DSD) is seeking student, staff and community volunteers to serve on its Accessibility Advisory Committee. The committee identifies social, physical, sensory and other barriers that prevent people from fully participating in school community life, and advises on ways to reduce them and make the environment more inclusive and accessible.
The district is looking for a balanced committee and is particularly interested in applicants who can bring perspectives not already represented. These include students, people with lived experience of disability, accessibility advocates and representatives of community organizations. Applicants should complete the online form by Nov. 2, 2026: https://forms.gle/Eb9EKXwKje8E9jQJ7. The link can also be copied and pasted into a browser. Shortlisted applicants may be required to attend a brief interview. Appointments will be based on best fit and the applicant criteria, in accordance with the Accessible British Columbia Act.
The Act says advisory committees should include a broad spectrum of people to reflect B.C.’s diverse population. The committee must include an Indigenous person, and at least half of its members must be people with disabilities, members of families of people with disabilities, or members of organizations that support people with disabilities. Other members and organizations associated with the district are also expected to be represented, including a Delta Student Representative or Delta Youth Advisory Committee (DYAC), the Delta Parents Advisory Committee (DPAC), the Indigenous Education Department, the Delta Teacher Association (DTA), CUPE 1091, and the Delta Principals & Vice Principals Association (DPVPA).
Applicants must also live in the City of Delta, or study, work or volunteer in Delta, or have children who study in Delta.
The district has developed an Accessibility Plan, available at https://www.deltasd.bc.ca/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2024/02/SD37-Accessibility-Plan-Feb-2024.pdf. Under the Accessible British Columbia Act, the plan will be reviewed and updated at least once every three years with support from the Accessibility Advisory Committee. The district has also established a working group of leaders from its departments and schools to carry out the work set out in the plan.
