Richmond hopes to help Night Market find a new home
Richmond officials say they want to help the Richmond Night Market continue beyond this summer after its operator announced its 26-year run at the current site will end. Sept. 20 is currently its final day.

Richmond Mayor Malcolm Brodie says the city hopes to help the Richmond Night Market find another location after the operator announced the annual attraction will close at its current site following this summer.
The market has operated for 26 years and is said to attract more than one million visitors annually. Its lease on the gravel lot beside Bridgeport Canada Line Station and River Rock Casino Resort ends this year, and Sept. 20 is currently scheduled to be its final operating day.
Brodie said a permanent closure would be a significant loss to Richmond's visitor economy. He said the city will work with the operator and owner to explore options that could allow the event to continue in 2027 and beyond.
The city said it was not involved in lease negotiations, but values the market's contribution to the community and local tourism. The Conservative Party of Richmond has also pledged to seek a larger, long-term site if elected in the municipal election this fall.
