Langley School District sets e-scooter and e-bike guidelines for schools
Starting in September 2026, e-scooters and e-dirt bikes will be prohibited at all Langley School District sites, while e-pedal bikes will be permitted under age-based rules.

The Langley School District will introduce new rules governing the use and storage of e-scooters and e-bikes at its schools beginning in September 2026. E-scooters and e-dirt bikes will be prohibited at all elementary, middle and secondary school sites.
E-pedal bikes are legally permitted at secondary schools for students: light e-bikes for those aged 14 and 15, and standard e-bikes for those aged 16 and older. Adults may use e-pedal bikes at all schools.
School administrators and staff will promote, support and enforce the guidelines under existing district administrative procedures, including AP 350: Student Code of Conduct and AP 355: Student Expectations and Consequences. The district said it will share the guidelines with students at the start of the school year and asked parents and guardians to discuss them with their children.
The district said it is working with the Ministry of Education and Child Care, the Ministry of Transportation and Transit, ICBC and the Langley RCMP to promote public safety. It cited concerns about underage e-scooter use and recent evidence of increased injuries among child and youth riders.
