The Langley Advance Times asked each candidate in the Oct. 17 Langley civic elections to complete a basic profile for readers. All candidates took part, with the guide covering mayoral candidates, councillor hopefuls and school trustee candidates. The newspaper said it hoped the guide would help voters decide whom to support in the 2026 civic election.

Two candidates are seeking the mayor’s seat in Langley Township, and voters will choose one. Township voters will also elect eight councillors from 20 candidates. In the City of Langley, voters will elect six councillors from 16 candidates. Langley Township voters choose five of the seats on the Langley Board of Education, while City of Langley voters choose the other two. There are 15 trustee candidates in the Township and five in the City.

Jay Lundgren is running with Langley Strong. He is a 48-year-old Langley business executive, entrepreneur and community leader, and has lived in Langley for 38 years. He lives in Murrayville. He can be reached at JayLundgren@langleystrong.ca; his Instagram and Facebook accounts are both jaylundgrenfortolmayor, and his website is www.langleystrong.ca.

Lundgren said he is running for mayor because he is concerned about two debts: growing financial debt and what he called a “debt of respect.” He said the Township needs responsible financial leadership that protects taxpayers while restoring respect for residents, businesses and everyone who calls the Township home.

Eric Woodward is running with Progress for Langley. He has been mayor since 2022 and served as a councillor from 2018 to 2022. A public servant and entrepreneur, he is 53 and lives in Murrayville; he said he has lived in Langley “all my life.” He can be reached at eric@ericwoodward.com, 604-725-3810, or https://www.facebook.com/mayor.eric.woodward.

Woodward said he is seeking re-election to keep delivering the roads, parks, facilities and public safety investments the Township needs. He said progress has been made, but more work is needed to manage growth responsibly and build a more liveable Langley.
