BC Culture Days to officially launch in Delta this fall

The City of Delta will host the official launch of BC Culture Days this September. The free kick-off event for the annual provincewide celebration, presented in partnership with BC Culture Days, will take place at Hawthorne Grove Park on Sunday, Sept. 20 from 10 am to 2 pm.

The event will include music, art and cultural performances. Visitors will also be able to explore the historic Kirkland House and learn about heritage groups in the community.

Mayor George V. Harvie said the city is honoured to host this year’s launch and looks forward to sharing Delta’s culture and heritage with a wider audience through the event and the city’s subsequent programming.

Culture Days runs from Sept. 18 to Oct. 4, 2026, with free interactive events, programs and activities at arts and cultural centres throughout Delta. Scheduled events include programming at Douglas J. Husband Discovery Centre, North Delta Centre for the Arts and Tsawwassen Arts Centre. Some sessions are designated for participants aged 18 and older or aged 10 to 15.

The Delta Community Art Contest will also return in 2026 alongside the Culture Days events. Artists across Delta, from emerging to professional, are invited to interpret the city’s natural and cultivated environments through the theme “Exploring Life in a Rural Setting.” Submissions are open until Sept. 4.

The top 10 submissions will be displayed at Harris Barn on Sept. 20 during the launch event, where the public can select a favourite. Voting will remain open until Oct. 23 at Douglas J. Husband Discovery Centre, Tsawwassen Arts Centre and North Delta Centre for the Arts. Information about the launch, contest and program registration is available at delta.ca/CultureDays.
